Sacramental Life

Across the globe and through the Church's history, the life of an individual Christian has been organized around and punctuated by particular, profound actions we call sacraments. Some of these are intended to be undertaken just once; some are practiced with regularity. At All Souls, we joyfully receive these practices as means by which we are drawn "further up and further in" to our life with God.

Eucharist

Also called "Holy Communion" or "The Lord's Supper," this is the chief and most frequently celebrated sacrament at All Souls. It happens each Sunday as the pinnacle of our worship together, and weekdays with Daily Prayer at 1101 Bainbridge Street:

Monday: 9:15 am

Tuesday: 12 pm

Wednesday: 9:15 am

Thursday: 7 am

Like Sunday worship, these weekday services are open to all who wish to attend. They begin promptly and last for approximately 30 minutes.

Baptism

Baptism is the basic rite of entry into  communion with God and his people. At All Souls, we typically practice baptism four times a year. This year, baptism Sundays are on the following days:

The Feast of Our Lord's Baptism (1/7/2024)

Easter (3/31/2024)

The Feast of Pentecost (5/19/2024)

All Saints' Day (11/1/2024)

If you are interested in participating in the sacrament of Baptism, either for yourself or your children, please contact Danny Hindman (danny@allsoulsrva.org).

Confession

Confession (or "Penance" or "Reconciliation") is a practice embraced by the Church for centuries by which an individual is able, quite simply, to say the unvarnished truth about themselves before God. It is also a time to hear God's forgiveness offered through the mouth of the listening priest. Confession is done privately and by appointment. This sacrament is required of none, but encouraged for all.

For more information, see this helpful guide to confession.

To make an appointment for confession, contact Danny Hindman (danny@allsoulsrva.org) or David (david@allsoulsrva.org).

Confirmation | Anointing of the Sick | Marriage | Ordination

All four of these sacraments are undertaken with less frequency, and usually with special stipulations beforehand. For information about Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick, Marriage, and Ordination, contact Danny Hindman (danny@allsoulsrva.org) or David (david@allsoulsrva.org).
