Serving Our Neighbors this Fall
1) Caritas:
As central Virginia's largest long-term residential recovery program (the Healing Place) and emergency homeless shelter for both men and women, our neighbors at Caritas are an important part of the All Souls neighborhood.
Here's how you can serve at Caritas this coming Fall:
1) The Works Program:
The last phase of participants progress through the healing place, the works program prepares participants to enter back into the work place after an extended season of unemployment as they have focused on gaining and maintaining sobriety. For each 6-8 week class, one time opportunities include:
Resume Writing
Assist participants individually or in small groups in crafting resumes geared towards fields of interest.
Practice Interviews
Sit in on mock interviews with participants as they practice interview skills (template provided by staff)

2) Monthly Meals with Caritas Residents
Help prepare and share meals with our neighbors at Caritas and other All Souls parishioners, every 4th Sunday of the month from 4:30-6pm.
All Souls parishioners not only prepare and serve dinner; we eat with participants, play games, share stories throughout the evening.
*This is great opportunity for kids to serve as well.*

2) Communities in Schools @ Blackwell Elementary School:
Communities in Schools of Richmond (CIS) works to connect local schools to the resources of the community (including churches) to surround students with the greatest need.
Interested in serving at All Souls' neighborhood RPS elementary school? Join others from the parish on Wednesdays from 10:15-11:15 am to help out with Kindergarteners + 1st Graders.
*Volunteers MUST complete this volunteer orientation and background check.

3) Sunday Morning Mobile Hospitality Bag Prep:
Our "Mobile Hospitality Shelf" is one way we extend the hospitality of Christ outside of our building and our homes, and into the city. Each week the shelf is available for anyone to fill a back to have ready when they see a neighbor in need.
We'd like to have some of those bags pre-filled for ease of use on Sundays!
Email Dan Logsdon to get on the schedule for pre-filling Mobile Hospitality bags this Fall!
